What Do I Do With My Kids All Summer? DIY Summer Program

DIY

Summertime is almost here, and the question on a lot of inquiring minds is, “What do I do with my kids all summer?”  You have overnight summer camps or day camps… but what if that is not in your budget? Well, do it yourself!

EPIC Homeschool Network, Inc. has some simple solutions for your DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Summer Program.  The key to a successful and productive summer is fun, learning, and accountability.

Fun

Plan something that is fun, engaging, and gets you out of the house at least once a week during the summer.  Choose a day of the week that you will designate to make it happen.

Fun activities can range from going to the local pool with friends (or by yourself) to checking out the local parks, libraries, and museums.  They are all offering something for the summer, so join in the fun.

Are you stuck looking for ideas?  We have come up with a fun family activity to help you decide what you should do this summer with a game within a game.  Here’s how it works.  Print the 2018 EPIC Summer Bucket List for June game-board and play Tic-Tac-Toe as you normally would.  One person is “X” and the other “O.” Try to get three in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.  Whichever three activities are in a row at the end of the game are the three activities you will do as a family. If you are in the Atlanta area join us for our EPIC Fun & Run, a free event, on June 21, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. .  To register go to https://epichsnfunrun.eventbrite.com

Learning

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.  Don’t let it wither away this summer.  Learning doesn’t have to take place outside of fun.  For example, join EPIC’s Summer Read-A-Thon runs from July 9 – 20, 2018.  One of the great things about this program is that everyone can qualify for a free prize.  The more money you raise, the more prizes you get.  It’s a win-win-win! You get to help a nonprofit, have fun, and earn prizes in the process. To register go to https://epicreadathon.eventbrite.com

Accountability

So you have made great plans for the summer.  How do you keep up?  How do you make sure you actually get it done?  Form an accountability group with like-minded moms.  You can structure it however you want.  You can do the activities together or just call each other up at the same time every week to see how the summer plans are going.  A little accountability done consistently goes a long way!

There you have it, our 3 steps to doing it yourself this summer and bypassing the camp fees. What’s some fun learning activities do you have planned for the summer?
